What if he doesn”t come back? What if he has to stay forever in someone else”s uncomfortable body? The depth of despair is difficult to imagine. Living in a body that you hate and cannot accept. There is no need to talk about a happy future here. There is only one obsession left — it will all end soon. You just have to get to the end. And if he doesn”t come, you can artificially get closer.
According to experts, this is exactly how a person feels who knows first-hand what transsexualism is.
What is it and how dangerous is it for society and for individuals?
What is transsexualism?
This is when nature makes a mistake and a male consciousness manifests itself in a female body, or vice versa. At first glance, everything is clear, even what to do next. But the controversy surrounding this does not subside. Why?
There are two reasons for this.
-First, as always, society rejects those who do not understand or do not meet its standards.
-Secondly, schizophrenics and crossdressers are mistaken for transsexuals or transgender people, as such people have come to be called.
According to various sources, transsexual births are rare — one in 40, 000 or 150, 000. Most are male, with females making up less than 30 percent of the total.
Transsexualism is characterized by a clear need to change the existing gender. Nowadays, there are many stories of people who have undergone gender reassignment surgery and were not happy. In some cases, they came to the clinic and asked for the return of lost children. It would not be an exaggeration to say that they were not transgender.
First sex reassignment surgery
In this sense, the history of the first sex change operations is very characteristic. It was made in Riga in 1972 by a very beautiful 38-year-old woman with a higher engineering education. She was so beautiful that the doctors put her on the operating table, canceled the operation and explained that such beauty could not be destroyed.
They changed their mind when they noticed that the woman was collecting sleeping pills throughout the hospital. As soon as the operation was performed, the person radically changed his behavior from feminine to masculine. And I felt absolutely happy.

This is precisely the condition that is characteristic of transgender people (for some time now the term “transsexual” has been considered incorrect). People always feel like they are in a cage. Conversations and psychological consultations do not help.
By the way, as in the case of homosexuals, transsexualism has long been considered a mental illness. People were then tortured using drugs and psychotherapy. Clinical practice and research show that in this case, no means other than gender reassignment will help restore peace of mind.
Causes of transgender error
Until now, no one has definitively spoken out about the reasons for gender change. In the late 20th century, there were theories that gender dysphoria resulted from poor upbringing, but these were never confirmed. In the past, they recognized such people as sick and tried to treat them. However, not a single successful case of such treatment has been reported.

Some suggest that the reason lies in changes in certain areas of the brain. However, it remains unclear why these changes occur. Whether the wear and tear of children, genetic or hormonal imbalance is to blame for this — there is still no answer.
Transsexualism in historical perspective
Needless to say, transsexualism is a “New Age” creation. Researchers claim that such people always corresponded to their time and age. However, the attitude towards them was almost always negative.
The exception is the North American Indian tribes. There, people with unclear gender were treated with respect and unique qualities were attributed to them.

If we turn to the ancient Greek language, we will find the answer to the question about the meaning of the word “hetero”. The literal translation is the opposite. However, in the majority.
In Oceania, a transgender person had a very special status and was almost a priest. He was the adult ticket—the first sexual experience this tribal man had had with this man.

Transsexualism in the modern world
In the modern world, views on transsexuals are shifting towards loyalty. More than 50 countries have adopted legislation that protects rights. Post-country situation — the Soviet space remains complex. The Republic of Belarus differs from other countries in that floor installation work can be carried out free of charge.
However, the general situation does not change as long as transgenderism remains a mental disorder in the International Classification of Diseases (ICD).
There was an ICD-11 project where transgender people were excluded from the list of mental disorders and even stopped calling them that, but now it’s a gender insult. However, if it is adopted, the document will come into force on January 1, 2022. Until then, the situation of such people cannot be called easy. In Russia, we have a long way to go to achieve what we want. In Belarus, to get into the commission, you need to pass an exam within two years.

Consequences of being transgender
However, those who still go through this path continue to win. Psychologists note that without gender reassignment surgery, such people have serious problems.
- Addiction
- Suicidal tendencies;
- Depression
- Difficult psychological conditions;
- Loneliness.
- Rejection from society.
And only a transgender transition provides liberation and the opportunity for peaceful coexistence with oneself and the world around us.

Transgender transition
Simply put, this is the action that puts everything in its place.
But in Russia, those who decided to act in this direction take different paths. And it happens that not everyone can withstand the load.
First of all, they must undergo numerous studies. As a result, the diagnosis is made by sexologists, psychiatrists, endocrinologists, therapists and gynecologists (urologists). Each doctor has the right to prescribe tests and various research methods.
Then a special commission is assembled, which includes doctors (psychiatrists, sexologists) and representatives of four ministries (justice, education, defense, internal affairs). If this committee gives a positive answer, everything begins.
First hormone therapy. Next comes preparation for the operation, the operation itself. Some of them are: in the external genitalia, as well as plastic surgery of the face and body.

Then there is a change in names, legal sex and gender roles in passports, educational documents and other documents.
At all stages, patients are provided with psychotherapeutic assistance.
This whole chain is getting busier and busier. In Russia, the operation costs from 500 to 800, 000 rubles.
There are also non-medical contraindications. Transgender transition does not exist if a person is under 21 years old and has a family and children.
However, a number of studies and clinical practice have shown that such methods can be considered as the only way to achieve the most positive effect. This is supported by research showing that only 1% of patients regret the path they took.

Controversy surrounding the topic
So why is there conflict on this topic?

The fact is that such deviations — a mismatch of sex by nature — are characteristic of schizophrenia. And doctors need to take the issue of making positive decisions about gender reassignment very seriously.
As you know, schizophrenia is an underdiagnosed disease. In this case, the person must be considered mentally ill. Experts estimate that more than 25% of schizophrenics try to talk about their gender reassignment.
In cases of transgender people, doctors have to resort to surgery. Psychotherapists can help people adapt to new living conditions.
And one more aspect that attracts unhealthy interest in this topic. Transgender people are often confused with crossdressing. But these are people who really seek shocking and provocative behavior. The fact is that they contribute to the rejection of transgender people by society (not all, of course). Children born to mothers do not seek gender reassignment. They identify themselves with the gender given to them by nature. By wearing unusual clothes for the sex, they pursue their goals, known only to them.

Transsexualism: different attitudes
Transsexuals have two positions.
1. Most Western denominations are loyal to transgender people and even accept spiritual dignity. The only church that categorically opposed this was the Russian Orthodox Church. She considers such people a disgrace to the Creator.
2. Please note that most transgender people live in Thailand. Scientists note that no real transgender operations occur there. These are people who do not consider future life without a sex change, but succumb to fashion.
The conclusion is obvious — transsexualism cannot in any way be called a threat to society. The only injured party is the transgender people themselves, and the way they are treated is another test for society as a whole.
