Breast augmentation: what silicone, blood and glory can mean

There have been different standards of beauty at different times, but until today there are no standards for a woman”s body. Nature gives everyone different figures with different leg lengths and, of course, different breast sizes. The girls were constantly thinking about how to make her more gorgeous.

She was rubbed with cobra venom, tightened with a corset, and later tightened with a bra to make her rise. Surgical breast augmentation also has a history of more than a century.

Today, half of the cosmetic surgeries in the world are performed to increase breast size. However, a lot of blood was shed in “cosmetic sacrifices” until a relatively safe silicone implant appeared.

The Strange and Painful History of Breast Implants

The famous surgeon Vincent Czerny was the first to perform breast augmentation operations. It was produced in Germany in 1895. Ink cuts out a tumor from the singer”s left breast. She was 41 years old and obsessed with her appearance after surgery. Ink figured out how to help her. He discovered a benign fatty tissue tumor in her waist area. It was perfect for the new breasts.

The surgeon removed it from the back and filled the open area under the skin on the patient”s front with it. No matter how strange it was to replace one tumor with another, using human tissue was a good idea, especially compared to the experiences of other doctors who later tried to replicate his research.

Lacking basic knowledge and caring about the patient’s comfort, the doctor simulates the insertion and injury of the carcass with all kinds of materials: paraffin, glass beads, bone, cotton wool, sponges, bulls, etc. Women suffer from breast problems. The actions of these conobars sometimes led to rather sad consequences.

Patients developed multiple infections, severe scarring, tissue necrosis, blockages of vital arteries in the lungs, persistent granulomas, liver problems, and women collapsed and often died. This continued throughout the first half of the 20th century.

Desire underlay these painful experiments. In the 1940s and 1950s, busty beauties became sex symbols and a new standard of beauty. Many women wanted to be like Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield. Bra pads didn”t always work.

As for surgery, things weren”t so straightforward, but that didn”t stop doctors. Some doctors experimented with various sponge-like materials. Breast augmentation was impossible because the material leaked and hardened for several weeks, causing inflammation, infection, and possibly cancer in women.

During World War II, Japanese women first began receiving non-space-grade silicone implants to avoid losing their jobs to American troops stationed there. They assumed that all American women preferred larger breasts. These surgeries led to the “silicone collapse,” the collapse of a culture that affected young women”s breasts.

The Rise and Fall of Silicone and Saline Implants

Most failed experiments, often with disastrous results, culminated in a breakthrough in 1961. After Dr. Frank Gero of Texas developed a container for soft blood, he and Dr. Thomas Clune developed the first prototype silicone breast implant. Dow Corning also assisted them. The pair needed volunteers for testing. They became dogs named Esmeralda.

The plump dog passed through the implants for several weeks and then re-stitched the amputation wounds. The doctors removed them.

Despite the short duration of the experiment, Gero and Cronin declared it a success. Esmeralda caused no harm to the silicone breasts.

In 1962, the implants were first installed in humans. Patient zero was Timmy Jean Lindsay. She worked in a Texas factory and was the mother of six. She didn”t actually want breast augmentation. When she came to the surgeon”s office for a consultation, her desire was to remove her chest tattoos. Gerom and Cronin convinced her to do so in exchange for surgery to remove his protruding ears.

Timmy Jen doesn”t remember whether her doctors warned her of any risks after the surgery, but after the bandages were removed after 10 days, everyone was very happy with the result.

Silicon implants continued to be used, and in the late 60s, saline implants also appeared. They were heavier than silicone and had a very audible hum at first, but as new materials and new formulas became available they stopped leaking and became a crowd pleaser.

In 1976, the US Federal Agency adopted amendments regulating the safety of medical devices. By that time, silicone implants had already been in use for 15 years and this amendment was made so that manufacturers could submit quality certificates confirming the modification.

It then became clear that the modification was sacrilege. In 1977, a Cleveland woman won the first-ever lawsuit after her implant failed, causing her severe pain and suffering. She won $170, 000, but the case was not widely publicized. Slowly but truthfully, the woman made more and more complaints about the implants, and many began to worry about the fact that they were leaking.

In 1988, silicone implants were given another safety class. This meant that manufacturers had to increase them to stay in the market. By 1991, insufficient information had been collected to prove silicone was safe for humans or toxic.

The courts told a variety of stories. More and more women were reporting connective tissue damage, neurological problems, cancer and other consequences.

At one point, some medical advice recommended that silicone implants be kept on the market only in cases of extreme breast reconstruction, and that warnings be made about undesirable consequences.

This led to an almost complete ban on silicone implants, with many companies including Dow Corning enacting a ban in 1992. The resulting voids were filled with saline implants, which quickly became popular, although many people still liked the look and feel of silicone.

By the end of 1993, more than 12, 000 lawsuits had been filed against silicone implant makers Dow Corning, but no scientific comparison could be made between the disease and the implants.

The US Food and Drug Administration has decided to consider banning the requirement that all breast augmentation patients participate in clinical trials. The results have been collected.

Finally, after 14 years, a study was completed, in which scientists determined that silicone is not harmful to the body. The results showed that silicone is not harmful to the body. However, doctors still warn patients that silicone implants are not permanent.

Even Mrs. Lindsay is willing to confirm this. She said that over the years, they sagged, just like normal breasts. She expected them to remain the same. Although it still warms her heart to know that she was the first.
