Of course, an analogy was drawn between wives and young cows (heifers), which were irreplaceable domestic animals that brought many benefits. Almost the same role was played by women, who, as a rule, were simple servants who performed a variety of tasks. Everyone recognized this as the norm. Over time, this term passed from general use only into the speech of certain social strata. In the 1990s, it was used mainly by traditional Russian gopniks and other varieties of “real boys,” for example, and not by particularly cultured people. Meaning of slang “chick”
In modern speech, the word “youth” is used in several different meanings. However, all these meanings are interconnected by the fact that we are always talking about a female person. It is fair to say that not all young people and youth representatives use this term for multiple purposes. They are used to saying this simply because they often encountered this term in childhood. And they recognize this as a normal attraction. But now we”re talking about people who use this term — not only for the sake of it, but also because it is a term that is used to describe a person”s sexuality. In some cases, men and boys (and sometimes girls themselves) use this term to refer to normal girls. That is, they do not set themselves the goal of offending or offending anyone. They just think the term is a good way to add variety to their everyday speech. As already mentioned, this view of attraction is formed under the influence of an environment that, from childhood, instills in people the normality and harmlessness of this statement. It can be used by a person”s peers while studying, at school, by friends, relatives of parents or even by parents. Of course, this may not always be harmless, but the child is confident in life that this is a normal treatment.

Women”s reaction
Of course, there are situations when it is quite normal for a girl to complain about such treatment from men, even if they are depicted with slight idle talk or shades of disdain. However, in most cases, women experience discomfort from this attitude towards themselves. If before everyone put up with this, today they don’t. This is due to the fact that European values and views on life are gradually being introduced into Russian society. And, among other things, we can see the influence of feminist ideas and equal gender rights. And, of course, mutual respect. Only now the appeal of “cheap” does not correspond to politeness in the minds of young women. Several women were interviewed and expressed their opinions on this issue.
One of the girls interviewed under the name Angelina shared her opinion. “I”m very okay with my boyfriends sometimes calling me “chick”. I trust them and know that they do not want to offend or hurt me. I think it all depends on what meaning I put into these words. After all, the letters themselves don”t really mean anything. Someone thinks to himself that he is being compared to cattle and gets offended. Someone thinks to himself that this is just a joke and that everything suits him. It is intonation and context that play a decisive role in this language. If some guy hit me on the street and called me a “chick”, I would definitely be offended. But when friends and acquaintances call me that, I don’t see anything criminal or offensive in it.”
