What does sexual orientation mean?
Given the current scientific understanding of sexual orientation, it is a deeply rooted and intimate attraction for certain types of people. First, it emerges during puberty and then stabilizes throughout life, and therefore cannot be deliberately changed. And there are strong reasons to believe that gender is just one piece of a more complex puzzle consisting of non-standard sexual attractions.
This is discussed in a new article in the journal Archive of Sexual Behavior, dedicated to the mysteries of sexual orientation. An article written by Michael S. Seto, Director of the Forensic Medicine Unit at the Royal Medical Group in Ottawa, examines sexual orientation within so-called age groups, or specific age groups.

In his book “Chronophilia,” Seto identifies several orientations, one of which he calls mesophilia. If you haven’t heard this term before, it’s because it was created to describe people attracted to middle-aged individuals. This social phenomenon is better known to us in the context of senility and, until now, was considered a disorder of sexual desire.

However, as Seto teaches in his article, just because someone is “attracted to a certain type of person doesn’t mean they aren’t interested in or don’t engage in sexual activity with others in certain situations.” Moreover, there is clinical evidence that different categories of people can experience sexual attraction simultaneously within the same orientation. The most prominent example is bisexuality. Therefore, the theory suggests that mesophiles don’t always have a consistent sexual interest in middle-aged people, and some people may be attracted to other age groups.
