The Most Common Women”s Reasons for Sex
There are many different motives that motivate people to fall in love. One study identified 237 different reasons, ranging from “wanted to have an orgasm” to “it was a promotion” and even “wanted to get closer to God.” However, the last reason is very clear. But do our sexual motives differ depending on gender and type of relationship (casual or long-term)? A recent study published in the academic sexology journal Sexual Behavior Archive provides some answers, at least for women.
Ladies find a reason for sex
In the latest study, 510 adult women (mean age 21. 6 years) were given a list of 140 different reasons for having sex. These motives were taken from previous studies and included every imaginable motive, from pleasure to love and revenge. Participants were asked to report how often they had previously had sex for each specific reason in different situations: casual sex and long-term sexual relationships with regular partners.

The researchers found that physical reasons were more often cited for casual partners. Emotional factors played a more important role in the motivation for sex in ordinary men.

For example, a common reason for having casual sex with strangers in bars is that women are more likely to view these men as “hot studs.” Below are some of the most common answers.
