Can women enjoy casual sex, and should they?

y?

It”s believed that the desire for casual sex isn”t biologically hardwired into the female brain. However, feminists have been trying to refute this “biology is destiny” argument for decades. Helen Fisher explained it this way: We women should be prepared for the people we have sex with to love us.

If we can make a sad person smile, we can be a source of happiness for them. Feelings of affection and love after sex arise in a similar way.

A 2006 Swedish study by Landsjo and Hansson found that people with a high percentage of casual sex tend to have poorer relationship quality and are more prone to substance abuse. At least, that”s the reality for the 2, 500 Swedes who participated in the study. But the “chicken and egg” question remains—what”s more important when a bad lifestyle and casual sex go hand in hand?

Girls Can Do This, Men Can”t | Joke

The most interesting study on this issue was conducted in 2008 on 800 students in the southwestern United States.

Owen, the study”s author, found that:

  • Equal numbers of women and men reported casual sex during the experiment.
  • All were young, healthy, and emotionally stable.
  • Most of them came from well-off families with good financial means (presumably, the women preferred only such men as partners). Fifty percent of men rated their experiences with casual sex positively, while only 24% of women did.
  • Women who are more relaxed about casual sex tend to view the experience more positively.
  • Conclusion: Whether you suffer from unrequited love after casual sex depends on your unique “inner makeup.” There”s no question about whether you should sleep with someone. If you have a generally positive attitude toward casual sex, you”re less likely to suffer from unrequited love.
