According to a new psychological study, the differences between men and women are not as stark as they seem. “Many people believe that the stronger and weaker sexes are almost two different species,” said senior study author Harry Reis, a professor of psychology at the University of Rochester, New York. Reis and his assistants analyzed 122 different physical and personality traits in more than 13, 000 subjects. The results are described in the February issue of the journal Personality and Social Psychology.
Physical characteristics examined included height, weight, shoulder width, arm width, and waist-to-hip ratio. As for psychological characteristics, scientists studied parameters such as empathy, desire and fear of success, love preferences and sexual behavior.
