Low Blood Sugar: A Cause of Marital Problems
Ohio University conducted a small study on marital problems. 107 married couples were assigned a task. Each spouse was required to measure their blood sugar levels twice a day, before bed and in the morning. Even more interesting: each couple was given a voodoo doll, a type of doll, to represent their “other half.” The loving couple was also given a set of needles.

The husband was required to poke a needle into his wife”s doll whenever he felt angry or irritated toward her. The wife, with her chosen doll, was also required to do the same. The experiment lasted 21 days. This unusual method for measuring the frequency of anger symptoms was previously developed at the University of Kentucky by Nathan DeWall, a co-author of the study.
Result: the lower the blood sugar level, the more needles were in the doll.

There”s even a special term for this phenomenon—”struggle”—a play on the words “hungry” and “evil.”
“So, we saw that hunger can have a very negative impact on our nation. Even those who said they were in a strong relationship with their spouse were prone to anger during periods of low blood sugar.”
