Couples are having less sex now than they were 10 years ago
Twenty-five years later, people are having less sex than in previous decades. At the same time, more than half of women and almost three out of three men admit that they would like to do this more often.

These results were based on data from the UK, but similar trends have been observed in other countries (Archive of Sexual Behavior, 2017, USA). It is difficult to single out any one reason for this trend. Several theories have been put forward. People start having children later in life and become too tired to have sex. Or this is facilitated by the abundance of entertainment associated with online pastime. “Several factors may contribute to this situation, but perhaps the main one is modern lifestyle,” say the authors of the Kaye Wallings study.

“In younger generations, the trend towards sex is in married couples and cohabitation. Interestingly, modern middle-aged people are most susceptible to this. Their generation started married life at a later age, unlike previous ones, explains Kay.

“Most people believe that others have more regular and frequent sex. Now they can reassure themselves that other indicators are about the same,” concluded Kay Wallings, professor at the London School of Hygiene. And share it with your friends!
