Discrimination against men or reverse sexism

The phrase “masculinism” or “reverse sexism” makes a lot of people laugh, especially radical feminism. In fact, what kind of persecution or restrictions are the male part of the population subjected to? Indeed, there are enough examples of reverse sexism that this topic needs research.

Masculinity

Since time immemorial, society has assigned certain gender rights and responsibilities to men and women. The term masculinity itself refers to a set of physical and psychological characteristics associated with men. However, the distribution of roles among men does not mean that they can fulfill these roles. Gender stereotypes make women “dependent” on men, but the latter are subject to additional obligations and demands. Modern society gives women, half of the population, the right to make decisions independently, own material assets and participate in the political sphere.

A real man

Thus, if you ask a girl what a “real man” should do, you will get the following list.

  • Must have high physical capabilities in the form of strength, endurance and agility (be able to lift and carefully carry any weight).
  • Don”t let illness limit their capabilities.
  • They are not afraid to “meet face to face” with opponents, as they can physically suppress them.
  • Strives for independence, is a leader, has business acumen and takes initiative in everything he does.
  • Has “his hands in the right places” to fix everything from the sink to the latest ultrabook.
  • Have an income level sufficient to meet all the needs of the family. Owns an apartment, a cottage and a car.
  • Work always goes to a “prestigious” place of work. Career growth is not discussed.
  • Men should not doubt themselves or show signs of indecisiveness or fatigue. All this is a weakness that does not provide opportunities for the stronger sex.

Since childhood, many girls have been puzzling over how to find “the one.” Often this image included the concept of “karokagathia” — kind, honest and beautiful.

This is not a complete list of the obligations of “real men”. But in short, these are points that are often heard from supporters of gender stereotypes. The author”s criticism does not mean that a man should be weak, cowardly or unemployed. Just that every person has the right to choose their own lifestyle and should not be stigmatized for it.

Of course, not all people take such a list for granted. The most rational representatives of society would say that this is nonsense. But the very existence of people who firmly believe in “real men” makes the picture of discrimination against men even sadder.

Reverse sexism

The situation is saved by the female part of the population, which allows men some contradictions from the ideal template. For these women, I would like to jump above my head and achieve new successes. But there will still be criticism of society.

Reproductive rights and the criminal code

But what if I ask if there are provisions in the Criminal Code, for example, about male rape? It”s simple, even the wording of rape applies only to women. Isn”t this discrimination against men?

Here are some more interesting facts.

  • It is the girl who decides to take contraception, which allows her to control her husband”s decision to get pregnant without her knowledge. Male contraception is more limited (condoms, surgery, hormones that prevent spermatogenesis).
  • The girl decides whether to give birth or have an abortion.
  • Women can pay for artificial insemination from a sperm bank.

It is foolish to deny the fact that nature has endowed the male part of the population with excellent physical capabilities and mental stability. Thus, in general, men and women are equal. So it might be worthwhile, at least as a social experiment, to give everyone complete freedom of choice. Let”s see how a man playing the role of a pedicurist or a female electrician will feel without being subjected to cynical attacks from others.
