In general, young people are incredibly progressive. Over time, it”s no surprise that many adults fail to keep up with new trends and face bizarre language barriers. Cringe, Krassh, Chill, Web and other words that have become “familiar” for members of the younger generation cause a huge number of derogatory reactions from people of the older generation.

Nowadays, strange words often have ambiguous meanings and are associated with social networks and “memes” referenced by SCs. Platforms like Tiktok and Twitter have helped spread and standardize terms that could otherwise only be maintained locally.
And, of course, the Internet has shortened the lifespan of some slang expressions. In particular, many brands trying to speak to teenagers are collaborating with each other in hopes of attracting a younger audience to their products.
As languages develop and new terms become part of the common vocabulary, young people are increasingly accused of demeaning linguistic norms. In some cases, their preferred form of communication (texting on social media) is misunderstood and, worst of all, frowned upon.
However, in reality, the younger generation is not as influenced by language as they say. That”s the conclusion of one of the latest language studies conducted by Mary Conn, an assistant professor of foreign languages at the University of Kansas.
How much human language changes over time can be explained by age and the same attitude towards personality and social status. The extent to which youth explain the desire for long-term and significant changes in language is “very high,” she said. The same factors that encourage young people to experiment with new languages are adopted by people at different stages of life.
“Strong social motivation necessary to create an identity in relation to particular social groups and changes in social structures.” If there is some sort of success, of course, this leads to a dramatic change in the language,” Cohn explains. “There are many people in the world with stable language fields who are, so to speak, not adapted to the new generally accepted changes. For example, those who hold high positions in political organizations.”

These handsome men who appear in films, on TV screens, in sports or on the street immediately attract the attention of women. They”re great.
Cohn continues: “First of all, this is due to the fact that people in privileged positions do not face social pressure and are not pressured to adapt to linguistic trends.” But that”s not all. “The flexibility of the tongue,” the woman adds, “apparently depends in part on age, the influence of various factors, i. e. social and personal.” And it is these personal factors that are very “difficult to determine.”
So, in her latest study, Cohn used an audio database. Here are interviews with children, teenagers and students. This allowed her to study children at four stages of their lives: Year 4, Year 8, Year 10 and college life. Subsequently, as the pronunciation of children and adolescents changed over time, the final considerations (sound wave analysis) that were made (analysis) were traced.
What did this research lead to? Perhaps the answer will surprise you (we quote): “The fact is that what I was assigned as a teenager was not anything outstanding.”
Just because you”re a teenager doesn”t mean your language is subject to dramatic changes compared to other important stages in your life. And this, of course, does not mean that you will have an undeniable “bad” impact on broader linguistic trends.

According to her, the persistence of some slang terms over time is related to how people navigate changes in their individual lives that relate to changes in their social background. “Why some words leave the heavens with sudden popularity only to be crushed and forgotten in the future, while others last longer, is a big mystery,” Cohn admits. This happens because not everyone is ready to treat this with an easy mission, due to upbringing and generally accepted social moral norms.
The cap itself is the headdress of the power structure. Many guys in the military often joke about this term, reminding girls that in some social circles it is the norm.
