Romantic relationships begin with a kiss. He is innocent, friendly, gentle, airy and finally passionate. Their poetic descriptions are filled with the artistic works of Pushkin, Banin, Nabokov, Byron and Shakespeare. Why do people love to kiss? And how do kisses affect subsequent relationships? According to recent research, romantic kisses serve several functions, including:

• One of the possibilities of testing potential spouses for compatibility.
• A means of strengthening mutual affection between partners.
• Ability to initiate sexual intercourse.
• Means to increase sexual arousal.

The study by scientists Rafael Wrodahl and Robin I. M. Dunbar involved 308 men and 594 women aged 18-63 years. The results turned out to be very interesting. Most women believed that romantic kissing was very important to attract potential partners, but participants with lower sociosexual orientation rejected this. The kiss was considered an important fulcrum for relationships and couples who had been married for a long time. For them, a kiss is an indicator of satisfaction with the existing relationship. However, the hypothesis that kissing increases the level of sexual arousal was not confirmed.

• Thanks to increased metabolism, calories are burned.

Scientists have found that a morning kiss lasting just 20 seconds promotes a good mood and a positive outlook throughout the day. How great would it be to start the morning with a kiss? This may lead to fewer conflicts at work.
