Dr. Michael Ingber, a urologist and member of the Women”s Sexual Health Association of New Jersey, has publicly presented sexual differences in partner behavior.
A small proportion of women report that they or their partners can achieve orgasm from breast or nipple stimulation. A recent brain imaging (fMRI) study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine sheds light on this phenomenon. In this study, researchers examined which areas of a woman”s brain were “activated” (that is, turned on) when different parts of the body were stimulated, including the clitoris, vagina, nipples, and (by comparison) toes.
Their results showed that nipple stimulation activated the same areas of the brain as clitoral and vaginal stimulation, an area known as the genital sensory cortex.
Given this, it is not surprising that some women find nipple stimulation very pleasurable and can reach climax. The study found that 29% of the 213 women surveyed were very sensitive to contact in this area. This once again proves that playing with a woman’s nipples can excite her no less than other oral sex.
